Firefox May Be Struggle, But It’s Not Out of the Race
The buzz on the street is that Firefox, everyone’s favorite underdog, has hit the ropes.
If you haven’t seen the obituary yet, it goes something like this:
- Depending on your sources, Chrome is either overtaking Firefox (per Net Applications) or has already overtaken Firefox (per StatCounter) in market share.
- Firefox’s chaotic shift to a much faster development cycle and inscrutable — at one point invisible — version numbers made a lot of enemies, particularly in IT shops. Its bug-handling slip-ups, exacerbated by the breakneck schedule, alienated even more.

Study Predicts Shocking Jumps in Cloud Traffic
Although a recent study from Cisco determined that no global region is prepared for widespread adoption of advanced cloud applications, it also predicts that the world’s cloud computing traffic will dramatically growing in the upcoming years.
We all know that cloud computing is experiencing rapid growth, but a new study by Cisco estimates shocking jumps in cloud adoption. The company’s Global Cloud Index predicts 12 times more cloud traffic by 2015, compared with 2010.
Cisco estimates that global cloud traffic in 2015 will be 1.6 zettabytes (ZBs), 12 times more than the 130 exabytes (EBs) in 2010. In other words, individual months in 2015 will experience as much traffic as the entire year of 2010. In this new “zettabyte era” of cloud computing, the company expects that the cloud will account for 34 percent of total data center traffic.
The study says that data center traffic will increase by fourfold to reach 4.8 zettabytes by the end of 2015. For the research, Cisco characterized traffic by services delivered to the end user.

Windows PC Protection Guide Against Virus Threats

From Jamie Pert: At some point or another almost everyone with a Windows PC will become infected by some form of malware infection, perhaps the most annoying of these of late is the fake Privacy Protection software which looks genuine, but it is in fact part of a scam where hackers gain your money and credit card details so beware!
Before we get started let’s quickly state a few things, firstly if you receive messages reading “Security Warning – Malicious program has been detected. Click here to protect your computer” or “Firewall Warning – Hidden file transfers to remote host has been detected” ignore them, these are fake alerts. Secondly, if you fell for the scam and entered your credit card details you should call your credit card company immediately. Thirdly, don’t panic as we will now show you how to remove this nasty infection, however we can’t take any responsibility if this doesn’t work for you (so do it at your own risk), that said you would be very unlucky if something was to go wrong.
Above we have embedded an image which shows just what this fake software….read more at following link: http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/12/05/privacy-protection-virus-removal-guide/
The Popularity of Video Calling is Massive Growing

Video calling has been extremely slow to catch on, but adoption is finally set to explode according to a recent forecast from NPD Group-owned market research firm In-Stat. According to the firm’s figures, 63 million people could be counted as active video calling users in 2010. In 2015, that number is expected to balloon to 380 million. “While the mobile arena is relatively nascent, it has fueled much of the growth in usage over the course of 2011,” In-Stat analyst Amy Cravens said in a statement. PCs will remain the most popular platform for video calling, but the technology’s expansion to smartphones, tablets and even televisions will also play a role in accelerating adoption. Connectivity is key on mobile devices though, and smartphone-based video calling experiences leave much to be desired due to shaky cellular connections. The rapid rollout of 4G LTE networks around the world should help to improve the mobile video calling experience dramatically, however.

It Looks Like That Microsoft Preparing iPad Office Version
From Jay Greene, a CNET senior writer: Microsoft is prepping a version of its Office productivity software to run on Apple’s iPad, according to The Daily.
The iPad-based news outlet, citing “sources,” reported that Microsoft is working to adapt Office for Apple’s tablet. The app could arrive before the next version of Office for Mac, which is expected to debut late next year.
Microsoft didn’t comment directly on the report.
“We already deliver Office on multiple platforms and devices and are committed to expanding in the future, but have nothing further to share today,” the company said in a statement.
Microsoft already offers a handful of apps for both the iPad and the iPhone, including Bing and Windows Live Messenger, among others. Creating Office for the iPad could help the device’s prospects in work environments, a market where it’s already making inroads at the expense of Windows PCs.

Today’s Call Center Software Top 10 Features for Efficiency
A wide range of innovations in call center services have expanded in the market during the past few decades. In contrast to traditional call centers, modern ones have found solutions that have increased efficiency and development in the industry. Call service centers of today have managed to develop advanced call center software that has made every task easier, faster, and more effective with reduced call waiting, fewer missed calls, and more improvements.
Below are the 10 important features today’s call center software should offer in order to be employed to its maximum potential:
1.User-friendly layout.
Dependable software should have a general user interface (GUI) that is clear and simple to view or understand. It should be possible to navigate the controls without becoming confused in the process.
2. Adjustability
Valuable software should provide features that can be customized according to company needs. One size does not fit all for all businesses, so this option only makes sense in the professional world.
3. Pop-up screen
Once a call is received, a pop up screen should show up on the screen and present the caller’s name, location, time, past inquiries, and other important information. This helps the agent to personalize the call and build a long-term relationship if possible.
4. Monitoring
The software should allow supervisors to review any daily transaction that takes place between callers and agents. This way, they can enhance the quality of performance.
5. Real-time statistics
Software users will have an easier time working if they could view real time statistics. Users can make the best decisions based on that data….

How to Transfer Business Data to iPads and iPhones
You get a request every day it seems from executives who want IT to give them the ability to download critical business data to their iPads or iPhones. These executives don’t care what it takes; they just want to see this important information quickly and easily, and they expect you to respond fast. Rather than stress out, let’s talk about a solution that gives employees the information they want, and the control IT needs. If your company is like most, the proliferation of both employee- and company-owned mobile devices, particularly iPads and iPhones, is driving demand for access to corporate data. But in most companies, there is little support for such access. There is great dissatisfaction with the level of support IT provides for consumer technologies in the workplace, a 2011 IDC survey1 of 2,820 information workers and 610 C-level executives, vice presidents, director-level IT personnel, and business-unit level executives from 10 countries found. This lack of access to business data is getting harder to justify. Executives, business managers, knowledge workers, and other employees already use iPads and iPhones to surf the Web, get email, and conduct other tasks directly related to their work. So they also want (and in many cases insist on) access to the sales, inventory, customer, and other data they need to perform their jobs, be more efficient, and make timely decisions.
Delivering what users want
The information users need is often stored in SQL databases, Excel spreadsheets, and a variety of other data sources. Access to raw data can be helpful, but employees often want their data in easy to read reports and charts. IT organizations are especially…

Tips How To Hire the Right Web Developer
By Tom Grasty: Two and a half years ago, I co-founded Stroome, a collaborative online video editing and publishing platform. One of our first — and biggest — hurdles was finding someone who could actually build the product my partner and I wanted to bring to market. But the real challenge, we quickly realized, wasn’t just hiring a developer; it was hiring the right developer.
Recently, I was asked by Jason Nazar, founder of Docstoc and a big supporter of the L.A. entrepreneurial community, if I had any tips for hiring the right developer to fill in the gap left on a team that doesn’t have a tech founder on-board at the outset. A short, 3-minute video in which I offer my response can be found at the bottom of this post, but I thought I’d share the four key takeaways with you here:
Recognize Their Worth, Not Their Rate
Money isn’t always the only motivator driving a developer’s decision to join your team. In fact, it’s rarely the main motivator. Yes, the issue of compensation will be one of the first issues to come up. But in my experience, the last thing you want to do is to start negotiating rates right out of the gate.
Why? Because it sends the wrong message. It says this….

Microsoft Reduce Complex Upgrade, Delivers Windows 8 Faster and Easier Online
From InfoWorld: Microsoft wants to make upgrading to Windows 8 from older Windows versions easier and faster through online delivery, no product key entry for at least one installation method and a process that involves 82 percent fewer screen clicks.
“Our aim in improving setup is to reduce the time from start to finish,” Microsoft’s Windows chief, Steven Sinofsky, said in a recent post on the Building Windows 8 blog.
Windows installations have always been a pain, and even when they’re easy the process can still take as long as four hours as my colleague Jeff Bertolucci mentioned during the Windows 7 launch. Microsoft hopes to improve its upgrade process to convince the more than 450 million Windows 7 PCs capable of running Windows 8 to upgrade. Not to mention the large number of users with modern PCs running Vista and XP that may be finally willing to try a new Microsoft OS.
